Our History
ALKON Group began its journey in 1999 with the opening of its first store, Classico, in Ankara. The company’s founder and chairman, Ali Çelen, named the store inspired by the Classico Italia association. Reflecting the association’s core philosophy—bringing together the best in their field under one roof to form a gentleman’s wardrobe—Ali Çelen curated a selection of exceptional brands. Each brand carried in the store specialized in a particular area: Zilli in outerwear, Stefano Ricci in shirts and ties, Brioni in suits, and Artioli in classic shoes. Classico grew by incorporating these and other premium brands with the aim of offering unmatched quality and elegance.
After 10 successful years in Ankara, ALKON Group decided to expand to Istanbul and, in 2009, opened the first Brioni boutique in Turkey on Abdi İpekçi Street, Nişantaşı—one of the most prestigious names in men’s fashion. Founded in 1945, Brioni made history by holding the first-ever men's fashion show in Florence’s Sala Bianca. For over 70 years, it has been the brand of choice for world leaders and businessmen.
2009Continuing its growth in Istanbul, ALKON Group opened Turkey’s first Zilli boutique in late 2010, again on Abdi İpekçi Street. Known for its outerwear, Zilli was the first fashion house to use exotic leathers not just for accessories but also for jackets and coats, showcasing its expertise. Remarkably, Zilli was also featured in the wardrobe of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic.
2010That same year, ALKON Group partnered with Frette—one of the giants in home textiles—and opened its boutique on Abdi İpekçi Street. Entering a new field, the goal was to bring the quality and elegance offered in apparel into the home. With roots dating back to the 1860s, Frette offers a wide range of products from bedding and towels to homewear and accessories. Preferred by European royal families and found in iconic locations such as Ritz, Raffles, and the Orient Express, Frette continues to blend the finest fabrics with timeless design.
2012Continuing its investment streak, ALKON Group opened its Classico store in Istanbul’s İstinyePark Mall in 2018, bringing together under one roof brands such as Stefano Ricci, Brioni, Zilli, Berluti, Artioli, John Lobb, Silvano Lattanzi, Sutor Mantelassi, A. Testoni, Massimo Sforza, and Lorenzi Milano. In 2019, ALKON Group took Classico beyond with launching it as a brand of its own, reflecting its expertise in luxury menswear. With production in Italy, it brought a fresh perspective to the industry.
2018In the last quarter of 2019, ALKON Group made a major leap by opening its first international boutique in Vienna, Austria. The 300 m² two-storied Zilli store was opened in the prestigious Goldenes Quartier district, neighboring the world’s most iconic luxury brands. This marked a significant step toward ALKON’s goal of expanding across Europe.
2019That same year, ALKON Group launched its first resort boutique in Bodrum’s Yalıkavak Marina under the Classico brand. Offering exclusive seasonal collections, this store brought ALKON’s unique luxury brands to the summer hotspot of Bodrum—marking Classico’s presence in three major cities in Turkey.
Toward the end of 2022, ALKON Group ventured into a new area it had always been passionate about: watches and fine jewelry. The "Classico Timepieces" boutique was opened at Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus, and ALKON became the exclusive distributor of Jacob&Co in Turkey. With a spectacular launch event, ALKON celebrated this exciting step and continues to expand its brand portfolio in this new field.
As of 2023, ALKON Group operates 10 stores and offers more than 20 global brands to its valued clientele. In the same year, the company added Cesare Attolini, the pioneer of vbNeapolitan tailoring, and Malo, known for merging lightweight cashmere with Italian craftsmanship. ALKON also entered the luxury accessories field with Elie Bleu, the world’s leading name in cigar accessories, thus connecting with refined cigar aficionados.
