Terms for Privacy & Data with Alkon is effective from May 25, 2018

The General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, is a European privacy law set to go into effect on May 25, 2018. The GDPR regulates how individuals and organizations may collect, use, and retain personal data, which affects Alkon and customers using on Alkon platform.

This document covers some of what Alkon is doing to comply with GDPR and points you should be aware of as a Logiwa customer

Why Should We Be GDPR Compliant?

GDPR affects both organizations based in the EU and organizations involved in processing EU citizens’ personal data. Since people in the EU can visit Alkon Platform or Alkon can get integrated with Platforms that are hosted within EU, this means Logiwa and its customers are both subject to the GDPR.

What is Considered as Personal Data?

Under the GDPR, personal data is any information about a specific person. This definition includes dates of birth, names, physical addresses, email addresses, location data, biometric data, financial information, and much more.

Why Do We Keep Your Personal Data and What Are We Using That for?

In connection with accessing our Services, we may collect information from you which can be used to identify you (“Personal Information”), such as your name, shipping/billing address, email address, phone, username and password.

We collect information when you open an account, sign in to Alkon, call or e-mail us for support, or give us feedback. We may also get information from other companies or third parties, such as when you sync a third party account or service with your Alkon Account, or when we may use service providers to supplement the Personal Information you give us (e.g., validate your mailing address) to help us maintain the accuracy of your data and provide you with better service. We may collect content or other information that you may provide or create when you interact with our Services.

We may also automatically collect certain usage information when you access our Services, such as Internet Protocol addresses, log files, pages viewed, browser type, unique device identifiers, any links you click on to leave or interact with our Services, and other usage information collected from cookies and other tracking technologies. We may also collect IP addresses from users when they log into the Services as part of our log-in and security features. Our Services may change over time and we may introduce new features that may collect new or different types of information.

We may use your information to operate our business, including providing Services you requested, provide you with support related to our Services, and to help us protect our Services, including to combat fraud and protect your information.

We may use your name, address, phone number, email address, how you interact with our Services, and information about your computer configuration to resolve questions you may have about our Services and to follow up with you about your experience.

We will use your information to personalize or customize your experience and the Service, develop new features or services, and to improve the overall quality of the Services we provide.

When We Share Your Personal Data?

The GDPR not only affects how your site processes personal data, but also how other services process data on your behalf. Logiwa offers integrations with third-party services and methods for integrating additional services

Typically, third-party services accept data from, or embed content into, your site, with Alkon acting as a pass-through for the data or displaying the content. These services may have their own terms of service, privacy policies, and other practices which are different from Alkon’s. It’s important to carefully review the policies of all services connected to your Alkon account.

We may share your information, including Personal Information and Usage Data, with third party service providers who perform various functions to enable us to provide our Services and help us operate our business, such as sending email communications, fraud detection and prevention, customer care, or performing analytics. Our contracts with these third parties require them to maintain the confidentiality of the Personal Information we provide to them, only act on our behalf and under our instructions, and not use Personal Information for purposes other than the product or service they’re providing to us or on our behalf.

We work with other companies or developers to offer you products and services and you may choose to sync, link or connect other third party services with your Alkon Service. Sometimes Alkon may let you know about the service or product, or another company may let you know about a Alkon service or product. If you choose to accept these services, providing your consent to either the third party or to us, we may exchange your information, including your Personal Information, as well as information about how you interact with each company’s service or product. This exchange of information is necessary to maintain business operations and to provide the ongoing service you’ve requested. By requesting or accepting these products or services, you are permitting us to provide your information, including your Personal Information, to the other party.

Exceptions and restrictions

To these rights, the following exceptions and restrictions may apply:

  • The above rights may not apply to non-personal data – if the data are about an organization and are not suitable to identify individuals.
  • For specific (contractual) purposes, you – as an individual – may have the right to opt out from data processing. However, the organization you represent may not have this right. In this case, you are kindly asked to provide the data of another (consenting) representative to be the contact for your organization.

Other Information

Technologies such as cookies, or similar technologies, are used by Alkon and our partners, affiliates, or analytics or service providers (e.g. online customer support providers). These technologies are used in analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking user movements around the site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by these companies on an individual as well as aggregated basis.

Alkon Services are intended for and directed to adults. Our Services are not directed to minors and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from minors.

If the information is transferred to foreign sub-processors, it must be stated in the data processing agreement, cf. 9.5.3 that sub-processors shall comply with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation and any other current personal data law in force. Sub-processors in EU countries with specific regulatory requirements regarding data processing must also comply with these requirements.

In the event of termination of a Alkon subscription, the Data Processor is required to delete any personal data.

We provide reasonable and appropriate security measures in connection with securing Personal Information we collect. Though no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure.
